Love in Action - February 11

Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' Matthew 22:37-39

"The greatest single cause of atheism in the world today is Christians who acknowledge Jesus with their lips and walk out the door and deny Him by their lifestyle. That is what an unbelieving world simply finds unbelievable." ~Brennan Manning

In Matthew 22:37-39, Jesus instructs us to love God wholeheartedly and to love our neighbors as ourselves. This dual commandment encapsulates the entirety of God's will for His people. Loving God with all our heart, soul, and mind requires total surrender and devotion. It involves prioritizing our relationship with God above all else, seeking to know Him intimately and to align our will with His. Let us cultivate a deep love for God through prayer, worship, and meditation on His Word.

Loving our neighbors as ourselves entails treating others with the same care, respect, and compassion that we desire for ourselves. It involves stepping outside of our comfort zones to meet the needs of those around us, regardless of their background or circumstances.

Prayer: Loving Father, thank You for the gift of love, which binds us together in unity and draws us closer to You. Help us to love You with all our being and to love our neighbors as ourselves. May our lives be a living testimony of Your love, shining brightly in a world in need of Your grace and compassion. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
